LIBRARIAN
JOB VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT - A LIBRARIAN REQUIRED
We are seeking a qualified School librarin who is resposible for organizing and managing collections of journals, books, magazines, newspapers, electronic documents, and other data resources. They are to work with children to help guide them to the material of the appropriate reading level.
Throughout all levels, librarians monitor the checking out and returning of books. In addition, they are responsible for helping students find and understand the information within the library that they may need.
ELIBILITY:
- Minimum Qualification: Bachelor in Library and Information Science or Bachelor of Library Science
- Age Limit: Not exceeding 40 years on the date of the interview
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have at least 2-3 years of experience. Freshers may also apply.
- Excellent communication skills, specifically the ability to communicate with children of different ages and from different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Functional knowledge MS Office & Library Software.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and implement library-based learning opportunities / lessons for students.
- Join teachers and other internal and external stakeholders to plan and implement meaningful experiences that will promote a love of reading and learning.
- Provide leadership and expetise in the selection, acquisition, evaluation, and organization of information resources and technologies in all formats.
- Ensure equitable access and resposible use of information by developing and maintaining a collection of resources appropriate to the curriculum, the learners, and the teaching styles and instructional strategies used within the school.
- Encourage acceptance and inclusion of all children.
- Select, order, organise, promote, and maintain library resources to support all curriculum areas, covering the full age and ability range of the school.
- Catalogue, index and classify library resources.
- Work with teaching staff and students to develop and promote reading for pleasure and participate in schemes with outside agencies, where possible.
- Guide students to read for understanding, exposure to a diversity of viewpoints and genres, and pleasure.
- Develop both book and non-book material into a resource that serves the curriculum including special needs and resources in languages other than English.
- Maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the school library program.
- Evaluate student's progress in library-based learning and monitor students' participation, progress, and responses to learning.
- Strategically plan for the continuous improvement of the school library program.
- To encourage purposeful use of the library for study, leisure, and pleasure.
- Supervise students in the library, when the student is not the responsibility of a teacher in attendance.
- Minimise the loss of library resources through the implementation of the security system.
- To manage the Library Management System and liaise with external software providers.
- Provide feedback to students and colleagues concerning students' learning and behaviour.
- Liaise where appropriate with external agencies.
- Oversee and facilitate the use and maintenance of the library.
